Dye Sublimated Driver Suites – SFI Compliance Notice

NOTICE OF COMPLIANCE
TO MOTORSPORT SANCTIONING BODIES

SFI Foundation wanted to make our member and affiliate sanctioning bodies aware that as of November, 2009, there is a driver suit manufacturer who has successfully tested and passed all requirements of the SFI Spec 3.2A driver suit certification with a dye-sublimated material.

Previously, it had been reported that the dye sublimation process had never been successfully applied to any of the materials used in driver protective suits which meet accepted industry standards. This is no longer the case.

Please note that Racewear Manufacturing/Awesome Racewear is manufacturing, marketing, and selling a dye-sublimated race suit that fully meets SFI Spec 3.2A and may be labeled accordingly with an SFI certification compliance patch.

Fur Rondy 2010 Cancelled

December 26th, 2009

Fur Rondy 2010 Cancelled

The 2010 Fur Rondy Grand Prix has been cancelled.

The money crunch has finally hit home. Due to city budgets, and more snowfall than was expected this year, our Mayor, Dan Sullivan, had no other options but to reduce funding to all of the municipal departments. This would obviously include the street maintenance department.

I commend Mr. Sullivan for the hard work he is doing to balance the Municipal budget. I urge all members, and friends, of the Alaska Sports Car Club to join me in supporting his decision.

I want to thank Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Southard, Mr. Hall, Ms. Duck, and Mr. Morrison for all the effort they have expended trying to make this years’ race happen.

I feel this is a wake-up call for us. If we want an event, we need to provide the funding. It is simply unreasonable of us to expect the city to fund events like the Rondy Grand Prix. To that end, we need to start sourcing funds for the 2011 Rondy Grand Prix now. The ball is in our court! If we do nothing, then nothing will change.

Timothy J Clark,

President Alaska Sports Car Club
